picnic hamper

autumn picnics

Last weekend I had the pleasure of being involved in a great cause. The boys at Sydney University Australian National Football Club hosted their SUANFC 2013 Ladies Day, which raised over $1000 for  White Ribbon Australia. The wild rabbit was on board to help by creating ‘high tea picnic’ hampers for all the ladies to graze on while they cheered on the boys in the beautiful autumn sun.

I love this time of year, and now that the beach is no longer an option for a relaxing Saturday in the sun I think the next best option is a picnic with friends. Find a spot in the sun, bring a rug, a few drinks…and of course lots of delish food!

A picnic hamper can come in all shapes and sizes but for a variety of tasty treats for the girls you could give the wild rabbit high tea hamper a go for yourself…

No picnic is complete without a cheese platter, so go for a brie, some fresh medjool dates, quince paste, fresh plump grapes & crackers. Then throw in a tasty home-made dip, a fresh crusty baguette & some marinated olives. A few finger sandwiches or wraps are perfect for a picnic, we went for chicken, herb & almond finger sandwiches and roast pepper beef with horseradish cream & rocket wraps. Obviously you need to finish on a sweet note so go for a crowd pleaser like choc hazelnut brownies.

Pack it all up in a basket and head down to your local park…or if you have an event of your own coming up and the idea of making lots of hampers yourself sounds unbearable then leave it to the wild rabbit and get in touch! Happy picnicking!
