I’m always very sad to see the end of summer, but luckily here in Sydney, the summer feels like it drags out into autumn long enough for us to make the most of being outside in the beautiful warm weather still.
Last weekend we marked the first weekend of Autumn with a gorgeous picnic in the park for a celebration with a lovely hen and her lady friends.
The ladies turned up to a picture perfect picnic spot under a big old fig tree by the pond to share a few champers and yummy treats with friends. The picnic setup was created and styled by the Wild Rabbit team, including our own in-house stylist, Tam of Bon Styling. We went for a french vintage feel, with shades of blues, greys and purples…with hydrangeas, lavender, roses and beautiful scents from fresh fragrant herbs to set the scene.
Once you have your picnic spot sorted, a great set up for a long picnic lunch should always include a cheese board, and perhaps some easy to eat finger food like antipasto and a selection of little tarts, including goats cheese tartlets with syrupy figs & toasted walnuts, and tomato & ricotta tartlets with olive tapenade & basil.
In my opinion, a ladies picnic isn’t complete without the old favourite…chicken sandwiches, and then some sweets to finish. Fresh fruit, vanilla bean mascarpone tartlets with berries, and the compulsory raspberry brownies. Followed by a few more champagnes, the French kind of course.
Not a bad way to spend a sunday afternoon with your closest friends…
